Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare for service and maintenance of conveyors, feeders and hoppers
   • Access, interpret and apply service and maintenance documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
   • Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
   • Identify, address and report potential hazards, risks and environmental issues
   • Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the work activity
   • Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and be ready for fire/accident/emergency
   • Identify and obtain required resources
   • Identify and arrange required support
   • Inspect and prepare work area in coordination with others
   • Carry out isolation and lock-out of all equipment
2. Carry out service and repairs of conveyors, feeders and hoppers
   • Coordinate with others prior to commencing and during work activities
   • Carry out inspection of conveyors, feeders and hoppers, fault find and report outcomes
   • Select and use servicing and maintenance tools
   • Select and operate servicing and maintenance items
   • Carry out servicing of conveyors, feeders and hoppers
   • Carry out maintenance of conveyors, feeders and hoppers
   • Dispose of waste, including used oil, lubricants and other materials
   • Return and secure all tools and re-usable items
   • Maintain servicing and maintenance records

Performance Evidence

competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to service and maintain conveyors, feeders and hoppers that meet all of the required outcomes including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating clearly and concisely with others to coordinate work activities

demonstrates completion of the service and maintenance of conveyors, feeders and hoppers that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

reporting on site service and maintenance

servicing and maintaining equipment

inspecting work area and equipment

safeguarding the work area
